BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
6 qt. cucumbers, sliced 1/8" thick
1 qt. onions, sliced 1/8" thick
9 c. water
1 c. salt
5 c. sugar
6 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. turmeric
1 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tbsp. celery seed

Pour water and salt over cucumbers and onions; soak overnight in refrigerator. In large pan mix sugar, vinegar, turmeric, mustard seed and celery seed. Bring mixture to a boil. Rinse cucumbers and onions. Add to boiling mixture. Heat thoroughly to boiling point. Do not boil. Put in jars and seal.
