BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
1 gallon cucumbers, sliced
1 qt. sliced onions
1/2 c. coarse salt
Ice cubes
5 c. vinegar
7 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. mustard seed

Add onions to sliced unpared cucumbers. Sprinkle with salt and cover with ice cubes, mixing well. Let stand 3 hours, then drain. Put sugar, vinegar and spices in a kettle and bring to a boil. Add drained cucumbers; reduce heat and simmer for 3 or 4 minutes. Pack in hot, sterilized jars and seal.
