MANDARIN ORANGE BARS 
1 c. shortening
3/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. coconut
1 can mandarin oranges, drained
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. orange juice
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening and sugar; add beaten eggs, dry ingredients, coconut, nuts, and oranges. Bake in a 9 x 13 inch greased pan for about 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Frost with a powdered sugar icing made with orange juice or cut and roll in powdered sugar.
