APPLE CRUNCH 
3 c. chopped apples
3/4 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg

Cream shortening. Add sugar, eggs and sifted ingredients (flour, cinnamon, salt, baking soda and nutmeg). Add apples last. Pour into a 13 x 9 inch greased and floured pan.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. pecans
2 tbsp. butter

Work the topping ingredients together until you reach a crumb stage. Sprinkle on top of the cake before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
