ORANGE COOKIES 
4 1/2 c. flour (sifted)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 level tsp. baking soda
4 level tsp. baking powder
1 c. butter
2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
Rind and juice of 1 orange
1 c. buttermilk

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and continue beating. Sift flour, salt, soda and baking powder together. Add these dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk while beating. Add orange juice and rind and beat together. Drop by teaspoon. Bake on greased and floured cookie sheet at 375. Two recipes makes about 5 dozen cookies.

ICING:

Warmed orange juice and butter added to powdered sugar.
