TOOTIE FRUITIE CAKE 
2 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. Crisco shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
1 c. cut fine dates
1 c. cut fine nuts
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. vinegar

FROSTING IN BETWEEN LAYERS:

1 sm. can crushed pineapple
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. flour

Cook until thick.

FROSTING FOR OUTSIDE CAKE:

3 c. powdered sugar (sifted)
1/2 c. butter
1 egg yolk
3 tbsp. strong coffee
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. vanilla
