2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 2/3 c. sugar
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. milk
2/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
5 egg whites

Grease and flour pans. Beat flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, shortening and vanilla. Put in large bowl, beat 30 seconds at low speed. Beat 2 minutes on high speed. Put egg whites in and beat 2 minutes on high speed. Bake at 350 degrees.
