SOFT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 (3 1/2 oz.) pkg. instant vanilla pudding
1 c. Crisco or 1/2 butter and 1/2 Crisco
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts, optional

Mix flour, soda and pudding mix. Set aside. Cream shortening and sugar. Add vanilla and eggs. Stir in flour mixture, mixing well. Batter is stiff. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 14 minutes. Makes 7 dozen.
