BREENA'S HOMEMADE TOMATO SAUCE | |
(Enough sauce for 1 pound of pasta). 2 lg. (30 1/2 oz.) cans whole tomatoes 1 sm. can tomato paste 1 tbsp. salt 1 tsp. ground pepper 1 tbsp. fresh basil 1 sm. onion, chopped 1 stalk celery, chopped 1 carrot, chopped 2 cloves garlic Crush and strain whole tomatoes and add tomato paste. Add water for desired consistency. Add seasonings and simmer. Saute garlic cloves in 2 tablespoons olive oil, remove cloves and saute onions, celery and carrots. Add to sauce mixture. Stir occasionally and simmer for 1 hour. |
