ROLL - OUT SUGAR COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
4 tsp. milk
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, vanilla and sugar. Add egg; beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk. In different bowl, sift dry ingredients together. Blend into creamed mixture. Divide dough in half and chill one hour. On lightly floured surface, roll dough 1/8 inch thick. Cut into shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes. Cool completely before icing.

ICING:

1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 tbsp. vanilla
3 c. powdered sugar

Blend butter and shortening; add sugar and vanilla.

This recipe may be doubled or tripled.
