CHEESE BREAD (BADARACCO) | |
1 pkg. quick rise yeast 1 1/4 cups milk, warmed 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 3 1/2 cups flour 1 cup mild cheddar, shredded 1 pkg. chopped frozen spinach (optional) Warm milk to approx. room temperature. Add yeast and sugar, stir until dissolved. Stir in remaining dry ingredients (except cheese), adding flour gradually while stirring. Knead dough with floured hands. Let rise in warm (not hot) oven, approx. 1 hour or until double original size. Punch down, flatten into rectangle on greased and floured cookie sheet. Spread cheese over dough. Add cooked vegetables (such as spinach) if desired, keeping bulk of fillings toward front of dough (toward you). Roll from front to back and seal loaf using wet fingers. Cut 3 slits in top of loaf for steam to escape. Bake 30 minutes at 375 degrees, or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped with a knife. Serves 5. Submitted by: Sara Badaracco |
