3/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
Mix and roll between wax paper to 4 x 10 inch rectangle. Chill. 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 pkg. dry yeast 3/4 c. milk 1/4 c. water 2 eggs, room temperature 1 tbsp. milk
Prepare dough by mixing 1 cup flour, sugar, salt and dry yeast. Set aside. Combine 3/4 cup milk and water in saucepan. Heat over loaf heat till very warm. Slowly add to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes. Add 1 egg and 1/2 cup flour; beat 2 minutes. Stir in more flour to make a soft dough. Roll out to a 12 inch square. Peel wax paper from butter mixture and place in center of dough. Fold over edges and roll out. Continue to fold over dough and roll out 3 to 4 more times. Wrap and chill 2 hours or overnight. Divide dough in 3 pieces and roll in circle. Cut into 6 pieces and brush with 1 egg, mixed with 1 tablespoon milk. Sprinkle with sugar if desired. Let rise 30 to 45 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Serve warm with butter and jam.
