CHERRY (OR APPLE) DANISH 
STEP 1:
2 pkgs. dry yeast
1/2 c. warm (not hot) water

STEP 2:
1/2 c. scalded milk, cooled
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/2 c. butter

STEP 3:
4 1/2 - 5 c. flour

STEP 4:
16 oz. cream cheese
1/2 c. sugar

STEP 5:
1 c. chopped walnuts (opt.)
2 cans pie filling

STEP 6: (TOPPING)

When cooled. 1 1/2 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 tbsp. milk

1. Dissolve yeast in water.

2. Add all ingredients in (2) to (1). Stir in 2 1/2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Add remaining flour enough to make dough easy to handle. Knead 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl. Grease top of dough. Cover, let rise until doubled. Punch down and let rest for 10 minutes. Divide in half. Roll in 15"x6" rectangle. (Do this on greased cookie sheet.) Make 2" cuts at 1/2" intervals. Combine (4) spread down middle of rectangles. Top with (5). Criss cross strips being sure to secure or they pop open. Let rise 30 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. When cooled, frost with (6).
