ICING FOR RED VELVET CAKE 
1 c. milk
3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. (2 sticks) butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. butter flavoring (optional)

Cook milk and flour until thick. Then whip sugar, butter, vanilla and flavorings. Add to cold flour mixture; cream until smooth. Spread over layers and outside of cake.
