1 c. soft butter (2 sticks)
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 egg yolks, unbeaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. flour (plain)
2 egg whites unbeaten
1 1/4 c. chopped nuts
Favorite jelly

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter until light and fluffy. Gradually adding brown sugar. Add egg yolks, mix well. Blend in vanilla, salt and flour. Shape dough into 1" balls, dip in egg whites then roll in nuts and place on cookie 1" apart. Put thumb in cookies then put in jelly. Cook about 15 minutes.
