LENTIL SOUP 
5 slices bacon, diced
1 c. onion, chopped
1 c. carrots, chopped
2 c. potatoes, diced
1 1/2 c. dry lentils
1 tsp. salt
2 whole cloves
2 bay leaves
6 c. water
4 c. beef broth
1/2 clove garlic
1/2 c. tomato paste
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
2 c. smoky links or wieners

Saute bacon, onion and carrots. Add rest of ingredients and simmer 1 1/2 hours. Add vinegar and wieners last 1/2 hour.
