ENGLISH CHRISTMAS PUDDING 
1/2 lb. raisins
1/4 lb. currants
1/4 lb. dates, chopped
1 lb. mixed candied fruit
1/2 lb. brown sugar
1/2 lb. beef suet
2 c. sifted flour
2 c. stale bread crumbs
2/3 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. each ginger & nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
Dash each of clove & mace
1 tsp. lemon juice
Grated rind of 1 lemon & 1 orange
1/2 c. of treacle (molasses)
1/2 c. brandy
2 eggs, well beaten

Mix all dry ingredients thoroughly in large bowl. Add liquids and eggs. Mix thoroughly. Pour into pudding bowls, cover with cloth or foil. Place bowls on a rack in pan 2/3 full of boiling water. Cover pan and simmer for about 3 hours. Turn pudding out of bowl onto large plate. Decorate with a sprig on holly. Pour brandy over pudding, set aflame and bring to table. Happy Christmas!
