Put in a large bowl:

3 pkgs. Nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (8 oz.) jar marshmallow whip
1/2 lb. butter
2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 c. sugar
1 can Pet milk (tall)
Dash salt

Boil sugar and milk very slowly for 20 minutes, stirring constantly; then pour over mixture in bowl and stir until all is melted and smooth. Pour in buttered dish. Makes over 5 pounds of fudge. To make caramel fudge, substitute caramel chips for the chocolate chips.
