APPLE, RAISIN, NUT COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/3 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. nuts, chunky
1 c. apples, chopped, unpeeled

Cover raisins with water; bring to a boil, remove from heat, cover and let stand 5 minutes; drain. Cream shortening, sugar; then add egg and milk. Mix flour, soda, salt and spices and add to shortening mixture. Stir in raisins, nuts and apples. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes on ungreased sheet.
