18 LAYER CHOCOLATE CAKE 
CAKE:

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
3 c. self-rising flour
2 tsp. vanilla
6 eggs

FROSTING:

2 c. sugar
6 tsp. (heaping) cocoa
1 lg. can evaporated milk
1 1/2 sticks butter

For cake, cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Sift flour and add to egg mixture, alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Pour 2 tablespoons batter in well greased 8" or 9" cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 to 7 minutes for each layer. Cool on rack until finished all 18 layers.

Frost with frosting. Mix together enough hot water with sugar and cocoa to make a paste. Add milk and butter and bring to a rolling boil. Take off heat and spread on layers.
