RANCH BURGERS
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 can (8 oz.) pork & beans
3 tbsp. chopped green onions
2 tbsp. barbecue sauce
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. barbecue sauce

Adjust oven rack 6 inches from heat source. Preheat broiler. Coat a broiler pan and rack with non-stick spray.

In a medium bowl, mix ground beef, pork and beans, green onions, 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce, salt and pepper until well blended. Shape mixture into 4 patties, each about 3/8 inch thick. Brush each with 1 tablespoon of the remaining barbecue sauce. Broil patties for 8 minutes or until desired doneness (do not turn over).

Serve with toasted onion rolls, sliced tomatoes and root beer floats. Makes 4 servings.

Variation: Drain pork and beans, reserving liquid. Mix pork and beans with green onions; set aside. Mix ground beef with bean liquid, 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce, salt and pepper. Shape into 8 patties. Spread bean mixture on 4 of the patties to within 1/2 inch of edge. Cover with a second patty; pinch edges to seal. Brush with remaining barbecue sauce. Broil until desired doneness.
