OVERNIGHT SALAD | |
1 head lettuce 1/2 c. green pepper, chopped 1/2 c. onion, chopped 1/2 c. celery, chopped 1 pkg. frozen peas, uncooked 2 c. mayonnaise (do not substitute salad dressing) 2 tbsp. sugar 4 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded 6 slices bacon, fried & crumbled Shred lettuce into a 13"x9"x2" Pyrex dish. Sprinkle the chopped green pepper, onion, celery and peas on top. To seal top spread mayonnaise evenly over all, then sprinkle the sugar on top, next the shredded cheese and finally the bacon. Chill overnight. This marvelous salad stays crisp indefinitely. Can be lightly tossed just before serving. Serves 12 or more. |
