GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 egg yolks
1/2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cake of Baker's sweet German chocolate

Cream sugar and butter, add egg yolks, melt chocolate in boiling water, dissolve soda in buttermilk. Alternately, add chocolate, water, flour and buttermilk in the creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Fold in 4 egg whites, beaten stiff. Bake in 3 layers at 350 degrees.

ICING:

1 c. sugar
1/4 lb. butter
1 can Pet milk
3 egg yolks

Boil until thickened (about 3 minutes). Remove from fire and add:

1 can coconut
1 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt

Spread between layers and on top. Needs no beating.
