BAKING POWDER BISCUITS | |
2 c. flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 4 tbsp. butter or other shortening 3/4 c. milk Sift flour, measure. Add salt and baking powder; sift again. Cut in shortening. Gradually add milk and make into soft dough. Roll 1/2 inch thick with little flour on board, cut with floured biscuit cutter and bake in hot oven 15 minutes at 450 degrees. For the best shortcake: Add a little more milk, stir just until lumpy and pour right into greased pan and bake and cut into squares and use for shortcake. |
