OLD - FASHIONED STUFFED CABBAGE | |
1 head cabbage 1 lb. ground beef Matzoh meal 1 egg 1/2 grated med. onion 1/2 c. honey 2 pieces sour salt (citric acid) 1/2 c. raisins 1 lg. can tomato sauce Precook cabbage for about 5 minutes until it is pliable. Combine tomato sauce, sour salt, honey and raisins. Simmer for 10 minutes. Adjust the honey to taste. Combine meat, matzoh meal, onion and some sauce from above. Wrap meatballs in cabbage envelope style and place in a roasting pan. Cover with sauce and some additional honey. Cover pan and bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. This dish freezes well. |
