CANDY APPLES 
2 c. (500 ml) sugar
2/3 c. (160 ml) water
1/4 c. (60 ml) butter
3 tbsp. (45 ml) corn syrup
1/4 tsp. (1 ml) red food coloring
8 apples

Place the sugar and water in a large saucepan. Heat until dissolved. Add the butter, corn syrup and food coloring. Bring to 300 degrees on a candy thermometer. Place saucepan into another pan of boiling water. Skewer the apples. Dip apples in the candy. Place on pastry sheet lined with wax paper. Let harden! 8 servings.
