NO FROSTING CHOCOLATE CHIP CAKE | |
1 c. chopped dates 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. plus 3 tbsp. hot water 1 c. sugar 1 c. shortening 2 c. flour 2 eggs 1 tbsp. cocoa 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chocolate chips 1/2 tsp. salt Add soda to dates. Pour hot water over dates. Cream sugar and shortening. Add beaten eggs, flour, salt, cocoa, and vanilla. Beat well. Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips and dates. Pour into 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips and nuts on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. |
