HONEY OF A WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
3 1/2 or 4 c. white flour 2 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 2 pkgs. dry yeast 1 tbsp. salt 1 c. milk 1 c. water 1/2 c. honey 3 tbsp. shortening 1 egg In large bowl combine 2 cups white flour, 1 cup whole wheat flour, yeast and salt, mix well. In saucepan heat milk, water, honey and shortening until warm. Add this to flour mixture. Add eggs, blend until moistened. Beat 3 minutes at medium speed. By hand gradually add remaining whole wheat flour and enough remaining white flour to make a firm dough. Knead for 5 to 8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover let rise until doubled. Punch down and divide into 2 parts. Put into 2 greased bread pans. Let rise until doubled. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. |
