Cream together:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar

Blend in:

1 egg
2 to 2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Sift together and add to creamed butter mixture. Divide dough into 2 parts. Chill 1 to 2 hours. Roll 1 part at a time 1/8 inch thick and cut with cookie cutter. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
