CANDY CANE COOKIES 
1 c. soft shortening (part butter)
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour

Mix and then divide dough. Mix 1/2 with 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring. Chill both halves. Roll into thin strips. Then twist and shape into candy canes. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.
