SUGAR COOKIES 
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 well-beaten egg
2 c. self-rising flour
Dash of salt

Melt butter. Blend with sugar and vanilla. Add egg. Blend flour into creamed mixture, one cup at a time. Add a dash of salt. Chill before rolling out. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees, about 6-8 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from pan. Makes about 2 dozen.

DECORATOR FROSTING:

3 egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 pkg. confectioners' sugar

Combine all ingredients until smooth and thick. Store in a tightly covered container to keep from drying out. Add food coloring to suit the occasion: orange for Halloween, red for Valentine's Day or Christmas, etc.
