BREAD - BUTTER PICKLES 
1 gal. med. sized cucumbers
8 sm. onions
1 green pepper
1 sweet red pepper
1/2 c. coarse med. salt
Cracked ice or ice cubes
5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2 tbsp. mustard seed
2 tsp. celery seed
5 c. vinegar

Slice thin cucumbers, onions, peppers. Add salt, cover with cracked ice. Mix thoroughly and let stand 3 hours. Drain. Combine other ingredients and pour over cucumbers. Bring just to a boiling point. Seal in sterilized jars. Makes 8 pints.
