APPLE RING-A-LING | |
3 or 4 lg. apples 1/2 c. butter 1 1/3 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. flour 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. salt 2/3 c. reconstituted dry milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. cinnamon Cream butter and 1 cup sugar. Reserve 1/3 cup for use later. Add flour, baking powder and salt alternately with reconstituted dry milk. Add vanilla. Beat at medium speed or by hand for 3 minutes. Spread over bottom of greased 10"x15" jelly roll pan. Wash, pare and core apples (leave apples whole and take out center core). Cut crosswise into 12 rings 3/4" thick. Dip apple rings in mixture of remaining sugar and cinnamon. Arrange over batter in rows. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool. Cut into 12 squares with an apple ring in each center. Serve with whipped topping, if desired. Makes 12 servings. |
