1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. cream (sour or sweet)
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Flour to make a soft dough

Cream shortening and sugar; add remaining ingredients. Press balls of dough onto cookie sheet with fingers dipped in powdered sugar. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown around the edges, about 10 minutes.
