AL'S RAISIN PIE
1 lb. raisins
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Pie crust for a 2 crust pie
1 egg yolk, beaten
Sugar

Barely cover the raisins and the cup of sugar with water in a deep saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer gently until they double in size. Mix the cornstarch with a little water and the cinnamon and nutmeg; add to the raisins. Simmer gently until thick and syrupy. Place unbaked crust in baking dish and spoon raisins into it. Cover with top crust; brush with the beaten egg yolk and sprinkle good with sugar. Cut a slit in the top, so the steam can escape and bake for 1 hour at 325 degrees.
