SUGARED DOUGHNUTS | |
1 cake yeast 1/4 c. sugar 1 egg 3 1/2 c. sifted flour 1 c. milk 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. shortening Dissolve yeast in lukewarm milk. Add 1 1/2 cups of the flour and beat until smooth. Cover, let raise in a warm place until double in bulk. Combine shortening, sugar and salt and egg and stir into the yeast. Add remaining flour and beat. Let raise in a bowl rubbed with shortening until double. Use doughnut cutter. Allow to raise about 45 minutes. Fry until brown in deep hot oil. Roll warm doughnuts in sugar. |
