1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. each - soda, salt and cream of tartar
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. oil
1 tsp. vanilla
4 1/4 c. flour

Mix ingredients together - dough will be real soft. Chill dough for two hours. Roll into balls, place on cookie sheet and flatten each with a glass sugared on bottom. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes approximately 6 dozen.
