3 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 c. butter 1 tbsp. sugar 1/4 c. milk 1/4 c. water 1 egg, beaten Sift flour, soda and cream of tartar into large bowl. Work in butter with fingers until of fine meal consistency. Add sugar; blend thoroughly. Combine milk and water; stir into flour mixture to form medium soft dough. Press dough lightly into 10"x8" rectangle on lightly floured surface. Cut into 1"x3" triangles. Brush tops with egg; place on baking sheet. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve hot with butter and jam. Yield: 16. |
