APPLE DUMPLINGS 
6 small apples
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. butter
1 c. water

Peel and core apples, leave apples whole. Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and save 1 cup of mixture out for centers of apples. Add water and butter. Cook 5 minutes.

DUMPLINGS:

2 c. flour
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk

Sift flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Add milk all at once. Stir just until flour is moistened. Roll 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut in squares. Place apple in each square. Fill center with sugar and spice mixture. Fold and pinch edges. Place 1 inch apart in greased baking pan. Pour mixture of sauce over apple dumpling. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
