"HICKORY-NUT CAKE" OR "WHITE CAKE" | |
3-1/2 c. cake flour 2 c. sugar 1-1/2 c. milk 3/4 c. shortening 5 egg whites 5 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped nuts 1/2 tsp. maple flavoring Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Beat sugar and shortening until creamy. Alternate flour mixture and milk to batter. Add vanilla. Beat egg whites until foamy. Fold into batter last. For Hickory-Nut Cake, add the nuts and maple flavoring. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until cake leaves the pan. |
