WHITE HICKORY NUT CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. white sugar 1/2 c. butter 1 c. cold water or milk 1 c. chopped hickory nuts 3 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla 3 egg whites, beaten stiff Cream sugar and shortening, add 1/2 cup water and beat well. Add 1 cup flour; beat well. Add second cup flour, beat well. Add third cup flour with baking powder and mix with 1 cup nuts; beat well. Add 1/2 cup water and flavoring and beat well. Fold in beaten egg whites. Pour in three 8 inch greased and floured pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes until done. |
