This is a very good recipe. I mixed up a sour cream dip to go with them and used hot & spicy sausage. With these balls and some dip, you can't go wrong for a party or just a yummy snack!!!

I found this to be a generally good recipe but not enough for our taste buds. After making it once, I decided to double up on the cheese and add in some paprika (1 tsp.) to bring it to life and this was a real hit with everyone who has tried it. At get-togethers this is always the first platter that gets emptied!

One of my favorite snacks to take to parties and events. I use HOT sausage though and it makes all the difference as far as flavor goes.

I too doubled the cheese and added celery and onion. I also lightly sprinkle some with cayenne pepper. I'll try the paprika as well.

I too doubled the cheese. Added 1/4 cup of medium picante for moisture and used the paprika, some (hint) cayenne, black pepper and a hint of garlic powder. Delicious!

Cool! I'm trying the paprika and cayenne, this things disappear quickly! I set them out in a large bowl and the kids nuke them up before school, fast-n-easy breakfast. Thanks for the ideas. Ruben Duarte

These are always a hit in our group. But I use Maple sausage cause I like the sweet flavor. But I might have to try the regular sausage with the paprika. Sounds yummy. Thanks for the tips everyone. :)

 Lana (United States) says:
This is a very general recipe, I always add some butter and drained spinach and not as much bisquick. They seem to get a little dry the next day.

 Kendy (United States) says:
I used prepared sausage instead of leaving it plain. You can't go wrong with sausage balls though:)

 Teresa (Alabama) says:
I used jalapeno deer sausage. It makes for a leaner "ball". I also use Lawry's seasoned salt with a little sage... yummy!!!

I doubled everything in the recipe and added jalapenos, onion, corn and celery. Then seasoned with garlic salt, Lawrys, cayenne, chili powder. My husband loves them!! There a little spicy but oh so delicious!!!!!

Like others, I add herbs, more cheese and use Italian bulk or hot sausage. The Italian sausage with a good smoke gouda cheese and roasted garlic is AWESOME! These freeze well too, great for unexpected guests.

This is what I use but sprinkle some crushed red pepper into mixture.

I use half sage sausage and half hot sausage and add extra cheese. Its always a hit. I love the variety of comments and I'll have to try them.
