PEANUT BUTTER CAKE 
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 1/2 c. sweet milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 c. cake flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix dry ingredients. Cream shortening, butter and sugar for 10 minutes. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Add flour and milk; add vanilla. Cook for 30 or 35 minutes in a preheated 300F oven; or just until cake turns loose from side of pan.

Makes three 9 inch layers.

ICING:

2 c. sugar
1 c. sweet milk
1/2 stick butter
18 oz. jar peanut butter

Mix sugar, milk and butter. Cook over moderate heat for 6 minutes. Remove from heat and mix in peanut butter. Spread on cool layers.
