STRAWBERRY DUMPLINGS 
1/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. milk
2 c. strawberries, hulled
1 tbsp. sugar

In a saucepan combine 1/3 cup sugar and water. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla.

Sift together flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Add milk and stir just until combined.

Place berries in 1 1/2 quart casserole and pour hot sugar mixture over them. Immediately drop dumplings onto berry mixture. Sprinkle dumplings with 1 tablespoon sugar. Bake at 450 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
