NOVA SCOTIA BROWN BREAD | |
1 tbsp. yeast 1/4 c. warm water 2 tsp. sugar 2 tbsp. vegetable shortening 2 lg. shredded wheat biscuits 1 c. boiling water 1 c. molasses 1 c. milk 1 tsp. salt 5 1/2 c. flour Proof yeast in warm water with sugar. In a large bowl put the shortening and shredded wheat. Pour boiling water over and allow to soften. Add molasses, milk, salt and 5 1/2 cups flour or more until dough no longer sticks to hands when kneaded. Put in 2 large loaf pans. Let rise once. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
