HONEY WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
3 1/2 to 4 c. unbleached flour 2 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 2 pkg. instant yeast 1 tbsp. salt 1 c. milk 1 c. water 1/2 c. honey 3 tbsp. oil or shortening 1 beaten egg In large bowl combine white and whole wheat flour, yeast and salt. In saucepan heat milk, water, honey and oil until warm. If you use shortening it doesn't need to melt. Add this to flour mixture. Add beaten egg blend with mixer until blended. Knead on floured surface until smooth and elastic approximately 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl; cover and let rise until double - approximately 1 hour. Punch down and put into greased loaf pans. Cover and let double in size about 30 minutes. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. |
