APPLE SLICES
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. cold lard
2 egg yolks
1/4 c. cold water
1 tsp. lemon juice

Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt; cut in large until it is as fine as meal. Mix remaining ingredients, sprinkle over flour mixture and blend lightly. Divide dough into 2 parts, using slightly more than 1/2 of dough for 1 part. Roll larger part into a rectangle about 17 x 12 inches to fit the bottom, sides and ends of an ungreased pan (15 x 10 x 1 inch). Roll remaining dough. Add hot apple filling, cover filling with rolled dough, perforate and seal edges. Bake at 450 degrees for about 20 minutes then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake about 1/2 hour longer. Cool, drizzle with confectioners' frosting.
