1 lb ham steak 1-inch thick
12 whole cloves
10 whole black or green peppercorns
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, pressed/pureed
2/3 cup white grape juice

Soak ham in enough cold water to cover for 30-60 minutes. Drain and pat dry. Place in a shallow-sided baking dish. Push whole cloves into ham slice.

Press garlic through a garlic press or chop finely and mash with the side of a knife. Combine with brown sugar and grape juice. Spread evenly over ham.

Bake in a preheated 325F oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until ham is lightly browned on out edges. Baste occasionally as needed during cooking.

Serve with sliced pineapple and steamed rice.
