6 or 8 cube steaks
2 med. onions
1 can cream of mushroom or celery soup
2 tbsp. oil or shortening
1/2 c. catsup
1/2 can water
Garlic salt & pepper to taste

Season cube steaks with garlic salt and pepper. In a heavy saucepan brown in oil or shortening a couple at a time. Place all steaks back in pan and cover with sliced onions. Mix catsup, soup and water and pour over meat and onions. Mix through and simmer partially covered for 40 minutes. For variation, use beef broth in place of cream soup.
