HUNGARIAN NUT COOKIES (GRANDMA'S)
DOUGH:

4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. butter
1 lg. tbsp. Crisco
1 c. sugar
1 orange rind, grated
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. milk

FILLING:

1 lb. ground walnuts
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Filling: Place milk in pan; add butter and let butter melt over medium heat. Add vanilla, then sugar and nuts; stir until blended. Cool. If too thick, add more milk. It should spread like peanut butter.

Dough: Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in large bowl. Blend in butter and Crisco. Add sugar and orange rind and mix well. Make well in center and add eggs, vanilla and milk. Beat with fork, then mix to a stiff dough. Lift out and form into ball. Wrap in waxed paper and chill.

Roll dough 1/4-inch thick. Cut into 3 x 2-inch triangles, slit in center, put 1 teaspoon of filling at back of triangle and roll.

Bake at 375 to 400 degrees for about 10 minutes. Makes 6 dozen cookies.
